Pop icon and actress Ariana Grande is set to take a step back from the public eye once her current world tour wraps up this September. The decision comes after enduring relentless public scrutiny, with her team describing the upcoming hiatus as a "much-needed break."

Currently in Chicago for her Eternal Sunshine Tour, the 33-year-old artist will officially step away from public-facing work following her final shows in London, according to a statement released by her representative on Sunday.

"She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny," the statement read.

Stepping Down from London Theatre Production

The hiatus has already impacted her upcoming acting commitments. Independent production company Empire Street Productions confirmed via social media that Grande will no longer star in the upcoming stage revival of Stephen Sondheim’s "Sunday in the Park With George," which was slated to open next year at London's Barbican Centre.

The production team expressed full solidarity with her choice:

 * Producer Statement: "We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support. We wish her nothing but the best."

 * Show Status: Empire Street Productions confirmed the stage show will proceed as scheduled with a revised cast.
